Max Zeppetelli and Nimer Ltaif are going to Aruba!

2016/09/07 - 0:39 by Playground Poker

Event 18 in the World Cup of Cards was a $300 + $30 NL Hold’em tournament organized by the Poker Player Championship Poker Tour. The structure was a 2-day format, and in addition to cash prizes, 20% of the prize pool was awarded as vacation packages to the Aruba World Championship in November.

With 137 registrations, a total of 2 packages were awarded to the top 2 finishers, while the top 15 secured a cash prize. Once play fell heads-up between Max Zeppetelli and Nimer Ltaif, the two players shook on a deal which ended the tournament. Since Max had the 5-to-1 chip lead, the agreement gave him the first place package ($4,500) and cash minus $900, in addition to both Champion’s Trophies, while Nimer took the second place package ($3,473) and cash.

Congratulations, and good luck in Aruba!

Action is quite wild 4-handed, and Saman Rezvani has been involved in a few all-in / calls in the last orbits.

He lost a good portion of his stack calling Nimer Ltaif’s all-in with Ace of Spades 4 of Spades, and falling second best to Ace of Clubs Jack of Spades. With only a few blinds left behind, he then shoved from the button with Jack of Hearts 9 of Hearts, and found a call from Max’s 8 of Clubs 8 of Hearts. The 2 of Spades 5 of Clubs 2 of Diamonds 4 of Spades 8 of Diamonds was not kind to him however, and he was eliminated in 4th place.

4th place: Saman Rezvani – $3,190.00

After losing with King of Hearts King of Spades versus 10 of Hearts 10 of Diamonds not long ago, Jason was able to rebuild his stack from 400,000 up to 1,600,000 by doubling up twice. In an unopened pot, he opted for an open-shove with his Ace of Clubs King of Diamonds, and Max made the call with Ace of Hearts Jack of Diamonds next to act as the two went heads-up.

Jason was once again in a great spot to win a massive pot, however once again his opponent caught a piece of the board to burry him, as Max paired his jack on a 8 of Clubs 8 of Diamonds 6 of Clubs Jack of Clubs 4 of Spades board.

Max had Jason covered by a small margin, and he now leads the final 5 with 3.4 million in chips.

5th place: Jason Conforti – $2,240.00

Jason Conforti opened to 180,000 on the first hand of level 28, and Saman Rezvani 3bet all-in for 765,000, which was quickly called by Jason.

Jason: King of Hearts King of Spades
Saman: 10 of Hearts 10 of Diamonds

Jason was poised for the knockout, until Saman found a ten on the 6 of Diamonds Ace of Hearts Jack of Hearts 3 of Spades 10 of Clubs board to double-up.

Jason was left with 400,000 behind, which he doubled two hands later with Ace of Clubs Jack of Hearts through Elie’s King of Diamonds Jack of Spades.

Elie was left with 3 big blinds after the hand, which were lost moments later to the hands of Jean-Manuel Estrala.

6th place: Elie A – $1,920.00

Saman Rezvani added 5 more columns to his stack when his 7 of Hearts 7 of Diamonds eliminated Jean-Sebastien Dubois. Saman made a 3x raise from the under the gun position, making it 150K to go. 3 positions further, Jean-Sébastien, sitting in the cutoff, had a surprise for him. No time was lost as he rather quickly invested all his chips, sending the action back to Saman. He looked at Jean’s stack, made quick calculations, and called the remaining 370K.

Saman sure didn’t feel very well when Jean-Sébastien turned over the good-looking Ace of Hearts Ace of Spades. His demeanor quickly shifted though, as the board brought Queen of Diamonds 7 of Clubs 8 of Spades 9 of Spades King of Clubs. Jean-Sébastien certainly can’t blame himself for his early exit from the final table.

Congratulations on a nice deep run!
