Dave Jeanneau-Cyr wins a fourth WCC Champion’s Trophy!

2016/09/08 - 4:28 by Playground Poker

Event 21 was the second 8-max Dealer’s Choice event of the World Cup of Cards, this time featuring a buy-in of $200 + $20.

79 players turned up for the tournament, of which the final table of 8 locked in a cash prize. Originally $4,426 of the $15,326 total prize pool was reserved for the eventual winner, however once play fell 9-handed the players decided to pull $100 from each of the top 3 prizes and award it to the eventual 9th place finisher.

The final table featured 2 of the top 3 finishers from the last Dealer’s Choice event, including reigning champion Dave Jeanneau-Cyr – who prior to tonight had already taken down 3 events from this World Cup of Cards. Matthew Bracanovic also made an appearance on the final table for the second time of the day, ending his run in 5th place after a 4th place finish in this afternoon’s Event 20, banking $2,935 in cashes in the process.

No other deal was made, and when heads-up play began between Dave Jeanneau-Cyr and Felix-Antoine Legault, Dave held the 3-to-1 chip lead – and a ton of momentum from his beastly results in this series. Play went back and forth for a little over 2 levels, and although Felix-Antoine managed to even things out at one point, Dave stepped on the gas in the last few hands and regained the chip lead. In the final hand of play, Dave called his short-stacked opponents open-shove from the big blind in a NL Hold’em hand. He tabled Ace of Spades 5 of Clubs, and held for the win versus the King of Hearts 9 of Diamonds of Felix-Antoine. With that pot, he was claimed champion of Event 21, winning his 4th World Cup of Cards Champion’s Trophy!

Congratulations Dave on your epic run!

Heads-up play between Dave Jeanneau-Cyr and Felix-Antoine Legault has been going on for 2 levels of play now, and although Dave started with a healthy 3-to-1 chip lead, the two are virtually tied at the start of level 22.

Felix-Antoine won a big pot moments ago to even up the game. In a 5-card PLO hand, Dave min-raised to 80K from the button, and Felix-Antoine obliged. Felix-Antoine check-called 100K on the flop, and again check-called 130K on the turn before both players checked the river. With the board showing Ace of Clubs 4 of Spades 7 of Hearts 4 of Diamonds 6 of Spades, Felix-Antoine tabled the Ace of Diamonds 7 of Diamonds King of Spades Jack of Diamonds 5 of Diamonds for two-pair (aces and sevens) and Dave mucked his hand.

Play continues in level 22…

It was less than two weeks ago that Glenn Hammers and Dave Jeanneau-Cyr were in the final 3 players of a Dealer’s Choice event. Dave got the best of him back then, and did it again tonight!

In a NL Hold’em hand, Dave called off Glen’s button shove of 175,000 from the big blind.

Dave: King of Hearts 2 of Spades
Glen: King of Clubs Jack of Spades

Glen was poised to double up his 6 big blind stack, until Dave found some help on the turn of a Queen of Clubs 6 of Spades 7 of Clubs 2 of Diamonds 4 of Diamonds board to bring the field down to heads-up.

“When you run good, you run good!” commented Dave as he collected the chips.

Dave now holds nearly a 3-to-1 chip lead versus heads-up opponent Felix-Antoine Legault as he closes in on the potential of WCC Champion’s Trophy #4!

4rd place: Glen Hammers – $2,290.00

In a hand of NL Hold’em, Dave Jeanneau-Cyr opened to 46,000, and Misha Olof Alexander Peters 3bet all-in for just under 250,000. Dave made the call and hands were tabled:

Dave: Ace of Diamonds Queen of Hearts
Misha: King of Clubs 6 of Clubs

The flop hit both players, however in the end Dave prevailed on the 5 of Clubs 10 of Clubs Queen of Spades 7 of Hearts 6 of Spades board.

With that pot, Dave now holds more than half the chips in play as he nears 1-million total, and is making a serious run at his 4th win of the series!

Matthew Bracanovic had a great day of poker at the World Cup of Cards, as he placed on two final tables in as many events.

After cashing in 4th place in this afternoon’s 8-max, he secured another 4-figure cash in the Dealer’s Choice event as he finished in 5th.

He was on the button and chose the game Crazy Pineapple. Dave Jeanneau-Cyr opened to 55,000 from utg +1, and found a call from Matthew and from Misha in the small blind.

Misha and Dave checked on the 7 of Spades 5 of Hearts 10 of Spades flop, prompting a 100,000 bet from Matthew. Misha mucked his hand, and Dave moved all-in over the top to find a call.

Dave tabled 10 of Hearts 10 of Diamonds for top set, and had a few outs to dodge as Matthew held King of Spades Queen of Spades for a flush draw. The 5 of Spades on the turn buried Matthew as Dave locked in the pot with a full house, and the river 2 of Diamonds was just a formality.

5th place: Matthew Bracanovic – $1,310.00

In a 5-card PLO hand, action folded around to Jonathan Neil Hansmeyer in the small blind, and he raised the pot – nearly his full stack. Matthew Bracanovic was in the big blind, and with only a few more chips than his opponent he raised all-in.

Jonathan: King of Hearts King of Diamonds Jack of Diamonds 3 of Clubs 2 of Spades
Matthew: Ace of Diamonds King of Clubs 8 of Spades 6 of Diamonds 3 of Hearts

Board: 7 of Hearts 4 of Spades Queen of Hearts 5 of Hearts 7 of Spades

Jonathan let out a loud yell when Matthew made the straight on the turn, half jokingly and half serious. He congratulated his peers and left in 6th place with a smile.

6th place: Jonathan Neil Hansmeyer – $960.00
