Tanvir Ahmed plays in all of the big events at Playground Poker Club, and while being an experienced player, he also seems to have a little more than his share of negative variance lately. He’s always happy to share the story though, and this one definitely makes the list of bad beats.
Preflop it seems that the player utg+2 raised to 1,200 (a 3x raise) and there were 4 callers to Tanvir in the bb, who called holding . The flop? Nothing less than the nuts to that point in the hand: . Tanvir checked, the initial raiser bet out 7.2K and got a call and two folds – action was back on Tanvir, who raised to 37K, which was more than half of his remaining stack.
The initial raiser called off the 37K, the third player still in the hand folded and the turn was dealt: . Tanvir was all-in for the rest of his chips but got a call. The river – … and a runner-runner flush to the initial raiser holding .
Tanvir took the break and a few more minutes to cool down and is now back at the table firing a second bullet for the day.
