Online Phase 1s have been continuing on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, and on the strength of 592 online entries in Phase 1 tournaments there are a total of 93 Online Phase 1 stacks that have qualified for a Day 1 in the Canadian Poker Championships. Added to the 34 Live Phase 1 qualifiers, this makes a total of 127 Phase 1 stacks already qualified for Day 1.
The chip leader so far in the Phase 1s is none other than Ruben Perceval with 3,952,330 in chips he bagged in an online Phase 1 on August 22nd. This awesome stack finally outpaced Michel Gariepy’s amazing 2,680,500 in chips secured in a Live Phase 1 on July 20th. In 3rd place to date is Mike Leah with an impressive stack of 2,326,024 – even if we only look 3 players deep, the field looks like it’s going to be very impressive.
There are a few other prominent Phase 1 qualifiers as well: Kristen Bicknell (1,464,309), Andrew Boujaoude (2,130,500), and James Nortcliffe (1,250,500), among many others. André Pelletier and Rodney Ramalho have each booked 3 stacks into Day 1s, which will give them both plenty of opportunities to bag big stacks though Day 1s in the event.
Online Phase 1s continue through September 10th, and from September 7th to 9th there will be 7 more Live Phase 1s as well – so there’s still a lot of opportunity to play your way into a great starting stack via these innovative Phase 1 tournaments!
