Clifford Neiman calls off his stack and takes 4th place

Neiman had been pretty active, and looked like he was well on his way to run closer to the Champion Trophy, until he open-limped his small blind to Steven Martin’s big blind. Martin went ahead and announced all-in. Neiman did not wait too long and called, for an effective 2 million chips on a 120K investment.

Steven Martin: Ace of Clubs Queen of Clubs
Clifford Neiman: King of Hearts Queen of Diamonds

Board: 7 of Spades Jack of Spades 6 of Spades 7 of Clubs 9 of Diamonds

What was even more surprising than seeing Neiman call off 16 big blinds after just limping, was to see him walk away without being sure that he was the shortest stack. He asked the dealer to blind him out if there was anything left, and went straight to the desk to get his prize. This is to confirm that stamina is a big part of such multi-day Events.

Great run Clifford, you can now rest and bring home your $8,730 prize!

Clifford Neiman has been pretty active since the chop agreement. In a hand that was raised by Steven Martin to 300K and called by Jean-François Stoycheff and himself, he open-shoved the Ace of Spades 5 of Clubs 3 of Clubs flop, and when both opponents folded, showed a measly gutshot.

Later, he shoved Stoycheff’s 320K raise to make him fold, and jammed on Guiley’s 275K raise that was called by Stoycheff and again got 2 folds. He picked up a lot of pots, and is now at par with his table mates.

Meanwhile, Jean-François Stoycheff successfully ran a few bluffs, and was happy to show them. As a result, he leads the 4-some by a bit, with a little over 4M to his name.

With Thundup Ringpa’s departure, there are now 4 players left in the Event. Jean-François Stoycheff, the table chip leader, offered his opponents to take a look at the numbers. The stacks were counted and the tournament director went to the ICM calculator. When he came back with the amounts, they were agreed by all. The following table lists the stacks and secured prizes of our 4 remaining players. Remember that $2,000 remain up top with the Champion Trophy for the eventual winner.

Congratulations, and good luck!
