Here is a first round of photos in the $300 + $30 Mega Stack Turbo Event. Note that Cassidy and Cameron Battikha, a pair of twin brothers, are in the field. Cassidy bested an unbelievable field of 2,570 players in last May’s Grand Prix Event, good for $84,050, right here at Playground Poker Club. Cameron has run deep a few times in this World Cup of Cards, including a 3rd place in the latest Roll the Dice Event, but has yet to have his own big break.

The tournament staff have made their introductory announcements and with no further delay, cards are in the air in the Mega Stack Turbo event. This is already proving to be a very popular tournament and there are 60 players seated as almost half of level 1 has already passed. With a $30,000 guarantee and the accessibility of this buy-in amount, that number should continue to grow throughout the late reg period.

Tonight’s event in the 2017 World Cup of Cards is a $300 + $30 NL Hold’em Mega Stack Turbo event. It’s going to be a tremendously fun event but the name might be confusing to some. Let’s break it down…

Mega Stack: Players will start with 50,000 in tournament chips. The normal stack size for nightly tournaments is 16,000, 20,000, or maybe 25,000 – this tournament starts with a LOT more chips! Hence, the name Mega Stack.

Turbo: Blinds will go up every 15 minutes – which is to say very quickly.

An event like this flips the normal tournament equation – instead of starting with a “normal” stack, players start with a ton of chips – but blinds go up very quickly, so players will have to make use of those chips right from the beginning of the tournament or risk getting short – and it won’t take long to get there. This tournament is all about action action action!
