The second of three High Roller events has just come to a close with Jeffrey Cormier claiming the title after defeating Jonathan Karamalikis heads-up, locking in a cool $160,000 payout for his victory as well as a World Cup of Cards Champion’s Trophy.
26 players came together to participate in this $10,000 + $300 6-Max Re-entry, culminating in 39 total shells fired. Since the $400,000 guarantee was not reached, this figure became the prize pool and was divided into 5 payouts. A number of players jumped into play leading in to the start of Day 2, taking advantage of the late registration period and potential overlay, and the shark riddled field went straight to action, starting off with a slew of eliminations. Early exits came from the part of Marc-Olivier Carpentier-Perrault, Philippe D’Auteuil, Pascal Lefrancois, Senthuran Vijayaratnam and Jonathan Duhamel, to name a few.
The final table was formed when the final 7 players were reached, with Kristen Bicknell and Ari Engel narrowly missing the payouts. Long time chip-leader Jeffrey then went on to eliminate Francois Billard (5th – $30,000) and JK Kastner (4th – $43,000) before 3-handed action began. David Ormsby (3rd – $58,000) tried to pull an ambitious bluff only to lose half of his stack, and then ran into the Pocket-Rockets of Jonathan to fall in 3rd place.
The heads-up duel began fairly even-stacked, however within a few orbits Jeffrey managed to pull away to a 3-to-1 chip lead. In the final hand of play, he picked up 
in the small blind and opened the 40,000 big blind to 100,000. Jonathan moved in with 
for 1,045,000 and was met with a quick call. The 
board brought no danger to Jeffrey’s Pocket-Kings and he eliminated Jonathan in 2nd place for $97,000, emerging as our $10K High Roller champion!
