The Seniors Champion: Robert Dagenais

2017/09/09 - 1:17 by Jôle Simard

The Seniors’ Event in the World Cup of Cards was a $200 + $20 tournament with a $15,000 guarantee, which was easily met. 10 payouts were formed, and every finalist cashed tonight. The 4:00pm start was greatly appreciated by our senior players, and 91 players showed up for it.

If there is one tournament where the atmosphere is light and all participants courteous to each other, it is the Seniors’. They came for a load of fun, and they got it! Claude Dufresne, the defending champion, managed to make the final table and the payouts, but was eliminated in 8th place. Robert Dagenais, who had the leading stack going into the final, managed to stay out of trouble, and even performed a few knockouts. After 9 hours of relaxed poker and a duel with Patrick Boisvert who was a strong force on the final table, he emerged victorious.

Congratulations!

Champion of the Seniors: Robert Dagenais – $4,050.00 and the Champion’s Trophy

Runner-up: Patrick Boisvert – $3,204.00

When Robert Dagenais raised all-in from the button with King of Clubs 9 of Clubs, Jared Newcombe, in the small blind, woke up with Ace of Clubs Jack of Spades. He called right away, and they went to the board.

Ouch! Robert Dagenais completed a straight on the river to make the knockout. Jared Newcombe took $2,560 for his deep run. Congratulations!
