Our 6-max Champion: Alyssa MacDonald

2017/08/22 - 4:46 by Jôle Simard

Event 4 of the World Cup of Cards was a  $150 + $30 + $150 6-max Bounty tournament. 239 players took part in this freezeout Event, and after 9 hours of play, Alyssa MacDonald emerged the winner.

When the final table formed, MacDonald was 3rd in chips. She managed to take a chunk off Kassandra Dawn Cox’s leading stack when her 4-bet all-in was just enough to make Cox fold. after that, it was more or less a sweep. In front of her army of chips, her opponents fell one by one – she is missing only 1 Bounty from the final table!

When heads-up play began, she had a little over 4 million chips, and Jaered Daniel Besse had a little under 800K. It only took 4 hands before they clashed, and Besse’s Ace of Diamonds 10 of Hearts bit the dust. MacDonald’s Queen of Hearts Jack of Spades was behind, but she was on such a heater that it seemed like a matter of time before the board hit it. And it did. Congratulations to all money earners!

Event 4 Champion: Alyssa MacDonald: $7,500.00 and the Champion’s Trophy

Runner-up: Jaered Daniel Besse: $5,744.00

Eric Doyle was in the small blind with about 500K, and with Jack of Diamonds 9 of Diamonds and the blinds at 30K/60K/a5K, he decided it was time to attack the monster on his left. Alyssa Mac Donald has so many chips that she probably would have called with quite a few hands, but when she looked down at King of Spades King of Clubs, she immediately said the word.

The board came with a hint of irrelevance, and Doyle walked away with $2,400. Congratulations!

2 hands later, Jaered Daniel Besse went all-in for about 400K on Sarkis Marashlian’s big blind, who was covered by a bit. Besse had made a move with Queen of Spades 4 of Spades, but Marashlian was hiding with King of Hearts King of Diamonds. However, the flop brought 2 queens, enough to crack Marashlian’s kings and send him home!

Sarkis Marashlian wins $3,190 for his 4th place finish. Well done!

…And then there were three. Not for long though, because Jonathan Patrick Marrie attacked Mac Donald’s blind on the first 3-way hand. His Ace of Hearts 8 of Spades did not manage to hit, and Mac Donald’s 6 of Clubs 6 of Hearts stayed afloat, for yet another knockout. Marrie cashes $4,230 for his nice deep run. Excellent work!

Play is now heads-up between Alyssa Mac Donald and Jaered Daniel Besse, favoring Mac Donald by about a 6-to-1 margin. Good Luck!

Cox came to the final table as the chip leader, but after having her stack dented a few times, she found herself in a tough spot. Alyssa Mac Donald raised under-the-gun to 80K, which was then 3-bet by Cox to 250K. Mac Donald went all-in, and Cox decided that she was too deeply invested to fold.

Alyssa Mac Donald: Jack of Diamonds Jack of Clubs
Kassandra Dawn Cox: 7 of Diamonds 7 of Spades

The flop came with some hope for Cox, but the rest of the board came dry:

Queen of Spades Jack of Spades 8 of Spades Ace of Hearts 6 of Diamonds

Mac Donald is now a massive chip leader with about 2.5M, on a table where the 2nd in chips has less than 800K! Kassandra Dawn Cox leaves the hall with a few Bounties and $1,810. Congratulations!
