The 8-Max event is just resuming play after the first break of the day. Level 7 is underway, and the late registration period is now over.

Jonathan Poissant, thanks to a last minute boost, is comfortably sitting in the driver’s seat with 83,500 chips. His closest rival, sitting on a neighbouring table, is Stuart Linnen, working with 58,500.

As the event is now closed to new entries and re-entries, we will be able to publish the payout distribution soon.

Day 2 of the Card Player Poker Tour event is slowly moving forward. Sixteen players have walked away from the tables, leaving 43 in the field. Top 40 will find a pay, top 7 will enjoy a 5-figure amount, and our CPPT champion will be handed $66,800.

Before we get there, there is still a lot of poker to be played. Here are some of the skilled players still in contention:

Mckinnon chips up

  • Level: 18
  • Small Blind: 3K
  • Big Blind: 6K
  • BB Ante: 6K
  • Chip Average: 202K
  • Remaining: 47
  • Entries: 317

Michael Mckinnon just enjoyed some pretty good timing, as his aces found value from Dustin Goldklang. Mckinnon was already doing well, working with an over-average stack, while Goldklang was in a tough spot, actively looking to get something going.

Goldklang: 8 of Hearts 8 of Spades
Mckinnon:Ace of Spades Ace of Hearts

Board: 4 of Clubs 7 of Spades 9 of Clubs 9 of Hearts King of Diamonds

Mckinnon’s aces held nicely, and as a result, his already healthy stack was infused with even more munitions, bringing him to twice the 200K average.

The action is underway in the 8-Max Re-entry event. After 30 minutes of play, just over 60 players have registered (1 of which bit the dust already), and tables are set for a great competition. Here is a look at some of the players:

Event #25: $100 + $10 8-Max Re-entry

2019/02/06 - 11:40 by Jôle Simard

It is already Day 18 of the World Cup of Cards, the last day of the festival. The very last event, the famous bounty, unfolds tonight, but before we get there, we will spend the afternoon battling on 8-Max tables! Event #25 starts at 12:00PM sharp, but players can jump in until 2:15PM, end of the first break. The starting stack is 20,000 chips and the 20-minute levels will succeed one another until the WCC trophy is won!

If you are a day person, this is your last chance to put your hands on a WCC 2019 title. Enjoy the competition!
