There are a couple of characteristics of Playground-style Tag Team events that seem to be true over time: A) many players play extra cautiously, perhaps because they don’t want to make what they feel could be a mistake that would be embarrassing to their partner, and B) that has an impact on the run-out of the tournament, in that stacks can find a way to remain in play even though the player goes below the 15bb, 12bb, 10bb, or even the 8bb threshold.

And that leads to hands like this:

Action folded around to Team Gagne in the small blind, playing a stack of just 19,500 chips (under 5bb). The player shoves and finds a quick call from Team Lauze – who isn’t that wealthy in chips either.

Gagne: Queen of Diamonds Jack of Clubs
Lauze: King of Hearts Queen of Hearts

The board ran out safe for Lauze – 3 of Clubs 2 of Spades 3 of Spades 9 of Clubs Ace of Clubs – and he added the 5bb to his team’s stack. There are now 49 teams left after almost 7 hours of play…
