There’s a lot of chirping happening at table 35. One player, in particular, Joey Boczek, who identifies himself as the Birdman, recently doubled up, and while insisting that he just made another player tilt and bust, was serenading himself. “I’m flying high! The bird man is flying high.”
He counted out his stack for all to see. Clearly it was hefty enough to make him one of the chip leaders. A few minutes later, when the players took their final 15 minute break of the evening, we confirmed the fact.
Right now, the front runner is Arnold Foley, who has amassed a stack of 190,000. Arnold has opened up a wide lead over the second and third place players, Charanjeev Malhotra and Joey, who clock in with 126,000 and 123,000 respectively.
After the break, when we passed by the Birdman’s table he was still chirping. After he won a recent pot, he was heard announcing, to everyone sitting around the felt: “I didn’t look at my cards once during that hand. I swear to you. Not once!”
