Just before the second players’ break, Patrick Sarry was down to his final 2,000 chips, and it looked his stay in Event #16 might be a short one. But after winning a couple of monster hands, Patrick is back from the brink, and is now our chip leader.
The 30 remaining players in the event, who just returned from their third 15 minute break, are now only 10 eliminations from the bubble. During the pause in the action, we counted the chips, and determined that Patrick is more than 50,000 chips in front of his next closest competitor. Patrick’s stack of 380,000 chips is testament to his perseverance, as just a short time ago, it looked like he was on the verge of busting.
But the final table, and the a winner’s prize of more than $5,000 is not a preordained conclusion. Especially with Gary Lucci lurking not too far behind, with 326,000 chips.
While the leader board has seen a cornucopia of competitors come and go, Gary has been a stalwart. He was in 2nd place after the first break, fourth spot after the second break, and now he’s climbed back to second spot again, within striking distance of Patrick.
As it stands now, the average stack size is 147,115.
