Patrick Sarry is the Seniors’ event champion

2019/01/31 - 20:22 by Playground Poker

There’s an old poker adage that all you need is a chip and a chair to win a poker tournament. Well, Patrick Sarry is a living example of just how true that phrase actually is.

Early in the tournament, Patrick was down to his final 2,000 chips, and it looked like he was on the verge of busting. But patience, perseverance, and little lady luck helped guide Patrick to victory at the WCC Event #16, the $150 + $15 Seniors’ event.

Heads up between Patrick and Michel St-Francois didn’t begin until Jared Newcombe busted from the event. Jared had raised all in, preflop, and Michel called.

Jared was holding Queen of Hearts 10 of Clubs, and Michel’s hole cards were Jack of Hearts Ace of Spades.

When the community cards came down 5 of Spades 3 of Spades 3 of Clubs 5 of Hearts 2 of Hearts, Jared’s night was over.

That left Michel and Patrick facing off in a heads up battle.

Their duel lasted less than 30 minutes, and was ultimately decided when both players went all in.

Patrick bet everything on Queen of Diamonds 9 of Hearts, and Michel bet the barn on 7 of Spades King of Clubs. But when the dealer dealt the community cards Ace of Diamonds 4 of Clubs 6 of Hearts 2 of Diamonds Queen of Hearts, the board delivered Patrick the victory with the Queen on the river.

As runner up Michel takes home $2,486.

Patrick’s share of the prize pool was $3,941, plus the champion’s trophy, and tournament bragging rights.

Congratulations Patrick for a memorable comeback!
