Karim-Olivier Kamal has had an amazing tournament. After starting Day 2 in first place by count, he disappeared from the tournament leaderboard as soon as the first counts were completed on the day, and never re-appeared until the final table list was produced… and there was Karim. Going into the action today he didn’t have a massive chip stack, but he did have the largest previous live tournament prize in his history, and that comes with a certain amount of “been there before” comfort.
Unfortunately for him, however, he was unable to get much going today. He was able to ladder up a couple of spots, but when action folded to Karim on the button, he shoved holding . Julio Cacoilo was in the small blind spot, and made the call holding .
The community cards were dealt:
The second Queen brought about a few extra chop outs, but on the river, Julio’s kicker was good.
