Today at 12:00pm is Day 2 in the Card Player Poker Tour Event, Event #21 in the 2019 World Cup of Cards at Playground. The two Day 1s in the event saw 317 players enter or re-enter, adding up to a prize pool of $307,490. This will be paid to the top 40 players in the event – and with just 64 players taking the restart, play is certain to be frantic almost from the beginning on Day 2.
Neither of the defending champions of this event, Brady Hinnegan or Luc Bellerive, have qualified for Day 2, so the field is wide open for a new CPPT champion to take the prize. There are some very accomplished players in the field who will be seeking to do just that. Among the leaders, there are former Playground Event Champions like Jaered Besse (296,000 chips, 60bb), Amir Babakhani (234,000 chips, 47bb), and Michael Khan (220,500 chips, 45bb). Also on the Day 2 starting list are some even more experienced players – Carter Swidler, Samuel Chartier, William Blais, and Duff Charette among others. Considering the buy-in amount and the relatively few players taking the restart, this is a power-packed and star-packed field from top to bottom.
Cards will be in the air in just a few minutes as the players are now taking their seats in the Tournament Hall. Good luck to everyone playing today!
