In the $100 + $10 Short Deck event only the top 11 players were slated to be paid. And although the group are all technically competitors who wish to see each other lose in the long run, there sometimes develops a sense of camaraderie after sharing so much time together at the tables. Now down to two tables of six players, the group decided that instead of playing for eleven winners and one loser they would share. At least for now.
So the finalists in this Short Deck tournament elected to shave $10 off of each of the top 11 prize amounts in order to add a 12th place prize. Their decision means that all of a sudden they are all in the money – everybody wins!
Now the pressure is off the short stack and the players can move more speedily towards the final table, and eventually the winner.
