It’s Tuesday February 5th at 7PM, and that means only one thing: it’s time for the $100 + $10 SNL Short Deck Hold’em Re-entry tournament! This is one of the last few of our 27 events held here at this year’s World Cup of Cards.
Today’s 7PM tournament is the second installment of this unique tournament format. In it, players will be playing with – you guessed it – a short deck. What that means is that all the 2s, 3s, 4s and 5s are eliminated, turning a 52 card deck into one with only 36.
The result is a new format with slightly different math. For example, a flush is harder to come by (and thus will defeat) a full house. Also, the low straight is now A-6-7-8-9, another important element to remember.
Players will begin today’s contest with a starting stack of 20,000 chips, and the will play 8-handed in 20-minute levels straight through until there is a winner. Registration will be open until level the start of level 7, which means if you want to join in you will have until 9:15PM to find your seat.
Cards are now in the air!
