Whenever there is a break we use the opportunity to quickly tally up the chip leaders, using double the chip average as a baseline. Right now the average chip stack is 73,000, so when we walked over to the final three tables to take a look we were on the lookout for anyone above 150,000. Our job was made pretty easy, as it appeared there was no one left with that amount.
No one, that is, except Ernest Kelly.
His stack measures an impressive 258,000 chips, more than anyone else left at their seats by a longshot. No one even comes close. But his friend and fellow east-coaster Arnold Foley isn’t so rosy on Ernie’s prospects. He hopes to surpass his friend’s chip count and get to the top of the leaderboard instead.
We’ll see! Good luck to all the remaining players, coast to coast.
