The $100 + $10 NL Short Deck Hold’em Re-entry has been running for three and a half hours at this point, and we have reduced the size of the field from 84 entries down to 26. With two more eliminations we will get to our final three tables, and on table 30 just now we saw one player come very close to elimination – but not quite.
The hand started with an abundance of limping, with four players matching the big blind (including the small blind). It was Steven Dubois-Daigle’s option, and he chose to shove for his remaining 25,000. The next player in line, Jean-Marc Couillard, jammed for his stack as well and all of a sudden it was heads up.
Steven had suited and Jean-Marc an suited. The flop was dealt , and Jean-Marc took all but several hundred chips from Steven with his boat. Most assumed that Steven’s night was over, as he had less than 1bb left. However, a quick glance at the tournament clock shows that we have lost two additional players while this post was being written, and Steven is still sitting at his seat! He may be on the edge of elimination, but he’s still here.
Players have just gone on break.
