And our champion is Robert Turcotte

2019/01/22 - 22:02 by Playground Poker

A champion has been declared in the $100 + $10 Megastack Turbo, Event #5 in the World Cup of Cards.

After Robert Turcotte knocked out Nizar T when he hit a jack on the river, to pair up, and beat Nizar’s pair of eights, Robert and David Bonneau were left to battle it out alone.

Nizar T

The duo engaged in an hour of back-and-forth heads up action where, initially, David looked dead in the water. When both players went all in, early on, David’s pocket fives 5 of Hearts 5 of Spades  did not appear strong enough to beat Robert’s pair of sevens, but when he hit the 5 of Clubs on the turn, he lived to fight another hand.

But Robert had lady luck on his side, and even though David took a substantial lead at one point, Robert remained cool and poised, grinding his way to victory.

When the final hand came down, David went all in with Queen of Diamonds 3 of Clubs and Robert wagered everything on suited connectors Jack of Spades Queen of Spades.  When the board was dealt Jack of Clubs 10 of Spades 9 of Clubs Queen of Hearts 4 of Spades, Robert prevailed.

As runner up, David’s share of the prize pool was $1,960!

But the grand prize of $3,163 and a champion’s bragging rights belonged to Robert!
