The first marquee event of the 2019 World Cup of Cards is the Grand Prix Canada, a $200 + $20 NL Hold’em tournament that boasts a massive $500,000 guarantee. There are a total of 17 Day 1s in the event including 5 online Day 1s on partypoker and another 12 Day 1s live here at Playground. Three of the Online Day 1s have already been held, and today attention turns to the Live portion of the event with Day 1A at 12:00pm and Day 1B at 5:00pm today.
Play on each Day 1 will continue through 18 levels of 30 minutes each. Players will begin with 100,000 tournament chips. This tournament allows unlimited re-entries until the beginning of level 11 on each Day 1, and players may enter multiple Day 1 flights whether or not they have already qualified for Day 2.
The opening flights of a tournament like this are always relatively leisurely affairs – but with 35 players already qualified for Day 2, there will be a little bit of urgency among the players interested in the event to not only qualify – but to do so with as large a stack as possible!
This is a next-day re-entry event, with a player’s best stack moving to Day 2, so all players are welcome to join as many Day 1s as they wish in order to build up the largest stack possible. With the current chip leader already holding 2.6M chips – players have a very high target in sight.
Good luck to everyone as the Grand Prix Canada Live flights begin!
