On table 65 just now Mitchell Proctor doubled up his opponent Jimmy Ouellet. Jimmy’s chances of surviving the day have improved – but only slightly – as his recent win helped him regain whatever chips he had lost in the early going. He’s now back to about 100,000, where he started an hour ago.

We arrived with the board already showing 6 of Diamonds Ace of Hearts Jack of Hearts. Jean-Francois Stoychef checked the flop, leading to a 3,500 bet from Mitchell. This was called by Jimmy, and Jean-Francois got out of the way.

The turn was a 4 of Spades and this time Mitchell led out with a bet of 6,200. Not content to simply call, Jimmy shoved over top for his last 36,000. Mitchell called without too much hesitation, showing his Jack of Spades King of Hearts. Perhaps he was hoping for a 10, or maybe he thought his middle pair was enough. It wasn’t.

Jimmy was holding a suited Ace of Diamonds 10 of Diamonds and when the 9 of Hearts was dealt on the river Mitchell’s fate (for this hand at least) was sealed. His paid up and play continues.
