The pace of play to start Day 2 in the Grand Prix Canada was just as fast as expected, and with 15 minutes left in level 21, the event was down to 344 players remaining – bubble time.
The Tournament Director paused play as each table played down the hand they were on and lit their red indicator lights – and when every table was ready, they turned off their lights and dealt one hand.
The bubble wasn’t destined to last very long with so many tables in action – on the first hand of hand-for-hand action – there were at least 8 tables that had an all-in and a call. Players at risk!
Each table’s action was paused at that point on each table, and we all waited until all of the other tables had finished before proceeding.
When the dust settled, 4 players were eliminated, bringing them all into the final money spot. The 4 players thus split the prize for 341st place – $500. Sylvain Lepage, Ryan Jensen, Kevin Lamothe Fournier, and Shawn S were the unlucky players – each of them will take home $125. The tournament has now resumed and we expect a stream of players as the small stacks that were just hanging on can now leave with a little cash in their wallet.
