Day 1C has come to a close

2019/01/30 - 2:55 by

The final starting flight in the $150 + $25 Strangers in the Night event has now come to a close, and according to the tournament clock, another 38 players have qualified for Day 2 tomorrow evening. There were 220 entries tonight, making a total of 584 total entries

Players are bagging up their chips right now, and based on a quick tour of the tables as the last hands were being played out, it seems like Endrit Gezi has gone virtually wire to wire in the chip lead.

The Day 1C results will be added to the Combined Day 1 results table when they are made available, and shortly following we’ll publish a Day 2 seating draw. Congratulations to all that have made it through the day!

Here are a few photos of the players with the largest stacks by the end of Day 1C

The leaderboard has been quite stable up top – Endrit Geci continues to lead by a wide margin. However, below that, there have been considerable changes. See the following table for details.

Registration has now closed in the Strangers in the Night tournament, aka Event #11 in the 2019 World Cup of Cards. Tonight’s flight added 220 entries to the tournament, adding up to a grand total of 584 for the entire tournament.

With the number of entries now finalized, Tournament staff is working on the calculation of the final prize pool and preparing payout table – we’ll publish that as soon as it is ready.

Meanwhile, there are still 132 players at the tables tonight trying to play their way into Day 2, joining the 78 players that have already booked their spot.

The end of the first stint in a Day 1 is a little early to worry too much about the chip leaderboard – but you can still identify the early front-runners who will likely set the pace for others on their tables and throughout the flight.

In this case there are a couple of players with stacks over 100K: Trevor Proch (106,000 chips) and Endrit Geci (101,500) – and a few more, including Jamie Sequira and David Dusome that are hovering very close to that milestone. With the average stack still just over 33K, players with chips in this range have a good chance to leverage that to a strong stack for Day 2.

There’s a long way to go, however – by the end of the night, anyone still in the field could find themselves on top

Cards are now in the air for Day 1C, the 3rd of 3 starting flights in this event in the 2019 World Cup of Cards. There have been a total of 364 entries through the first two starting flights, and already in level 1 tonight there are 71 entries – the event has already surpassed the number of entries required to meet the guaranteed prize pool. This means that every additional entry tonight will grow the prize pool beyond the $65,000 mark – how high, nobody knows!

Play tonight will proceed through 14 levels of 30 minutes each. Play is 10-handed and players begin with 25K in chips. Late entry and/or re-entry is available until the beginning of level 7, which is to say that players may join in any time until 10:15pm tonight.

Good luck to everyone playing tonight!
