After more than an hour without much changing on the table, it all started changing quickly.

One of the (many, many) preflop shoves finally resulted in the elimination of one of the final five. Whereas usually the shove would garner folds around the table, this time it hit. The gentleman that took the brunt of it was Grant Ellis, who got his 1,080,000 chip in with pocket 7s.

The board was dealt , a good start for Terence who was searching for the flush. The next card was a (completing the flush) and the final was unnecessary.

The very next hand we saw another elimination. This time it was Vsevolod who left. He shoved preflop with Jacks, getting called by Terence’s J-Q. The board was dealt and that was it.

Vsevolod took 4th place and $5,180.

Incredibly, the next hand saw Terence eliminate another opponent. This time the victim was Sebastien Fortier.

This run of luck was even more impressive because only a few hands before Terence was the short stack. But by doubling up (almost) each hand, his stack progressively grew large enough to take on larger opponents each time. In this case, it was Terence holding the pocket jacks. He faced off against Sebastien’s .

The board was dealt , and that was the end of Sebastien’s night!

He earns a 3rd place finish and a healthy prize of $7,280.

Perhaps hoping to capitalize on this dynamic, Sebastien Fortier called Jamie Baker’s preflop shove, hoping his pocket pair would take down Grant’s cards. Sebastien flipped over sailboats, a . Jamie made a set on the flop and eventually took down Fortier in the hand, doubling up above 1,000,000 at his expense on a board.

Not one hand later, it was Antonio De La Cruz who shoved. This time it was Jamie’s turn to call.

Antonio’s faced off against Jamie’s suited . Jamie ended up flopping the nut flush, eliminating Antonio, who only managed two pair on a board. Jamie’s stack has almost quadrupled in two hands, making this a whole new ballgame for him. Well done!

Louis Collette just bet his tournament life on a pocket pair. He was called by Antonio De La Cruz, who was thinking the exact same thing. Louis had shoved for about 700,000, so when the players flipped over their cards it was Louis that stood up, as he was covered by Antonio’s larger stack.

Matthew Wilkins had tried three different chairs during this final table. Nothing quite felt right. That same sense of unease followed him out of the tournament, as he never did end up finding his groove on the final table. Sometimes that happens. In this case, it led to a 9th place finish and a prize of $1,620.
