The Short Deck winner is Donald Abdelhay!

2019/01/31 - 2:36 by Playground Poker

After an hour of heads up action, we have crowned a winner! Congratulations to Donald Abdelhay for taking down 1st place, the trophy and the most money on the ICM chop.

Donald’s 1st place finish earns him a total of $1,485. Well done!

The battle between Donald and his final opponent (Jamie Sequeira) was a steady affair, with Donald never relinquishing his chip lead throughout the contest. Smart poker and patience were the two keys to this victory. Ultimately, Donald won by grinding Jamie’s stack down to the point that it made any mistake a fatal one.

The hand that completed the tournament is shown below.

The flop was dealt King of Clubs King of Hearts 8 of Clubs, and both players checked both the flop and the turn, which was a 9 of Hearts. Donald opened with a bet of 20,000, which Jamie called, and after the river was dealt 8 of Spades, Jamie shoved.

Donald was happy to call. His Kings full of 8s capsized Jamie’s smaller boat, 8 full of Kings.

Jamie also had a great tournament, taking home 2nd place and earning $995. Congratulations to you both!

Andreas K was eliminated just now by Donald Abdelhay, who continues his great run at the final table.

In the hand, Donald’s Ace of Spades 10 of Clubs made an Ace-high straight, beating Andreas’ lower straight with his 9 of Spades 6 of Diamonds on a Ace of Diamonds 8 of Hearts Ace of Hearts 10 of Diamonds 7 of Diamonds board.

Congratulations on a great tournament Andreas, you’ve earned every penny of your $935 3rd place finish.

After a relatively short tournament (just over six hours at this point) the last four players have agreed to an ICM chop. They have now locked in the amounts they will take home with them, with $120 put aside for the winner – along with the trophy and bragging rights, of course.

According the ICM, the players will receive the following amounts:

Donald Abdelhay: $1,365

Luke Mccomber: $1,090

Jamie Sequeira: $995

Andreas K: $935

Just as this post was being written, Luke Mccomber busted in 4th. Congratulations to him on an excellent tournament. Good luck to the final three as they battle their way to the finish!

In a few fateful hands Luke Mccomber lost most of his chips, along with the chip lead.

We joined the latest hand midway through, with an 8 of Hearts 6 of Diamonds 10 of Spades already on the board. Luke checked the action to Donald Abdelhay, who bet 50,000. Luke called, and an 8 of Clubs was dealt on the turn.

Luke checked again, and this time Donald bet 80,000. Luke called again. An Ace of Hearts came down on the river. Determined not to let Donald take all the initiative, or perhaps as a bluff to push him out of the hand, Luke shoved all in. Unfortunately for him, Donald had hit a straight on the flop, calling and turning over his 7 of Hearts 9 of Hearts.

Luke’s Q-Q wasn’t enough and his doubled Donald up. It now looks like it is Donald firmly in the lead.

The short stack at the table didn’t last more than two hands after the last break, losing to chip leader Luke Mccomber after a preflop shove with Jacks.

Congratulations to Kimberley Kilroy for her 5th place finish, netting her $545. Play continues.
