Table 61 was the scene of significant action in back-to-back hands as Cindy Payment and Melissa Adamson were eliminated while Lynn Phan and Diana Shamshoum both stacked chips in the hands.

First up was a three-way all in when we arrived at the table on the turn, and the players report that Cindy Payment had gotten it all in on the flop and found two callers, and Melissa Adamson and Lynn Pham followed on the turn to create a side pot.

Cindy: 6 of Clubs 6 of Spades
Melissa: King of Diamonds Queen of Diamonds
Lynn: Jack of Spades 10 of Spades

The board read King of Spades Queen of Clubs 6 of Hearts Ace of Diamonds by the time the final chips got in – and that street is also when Lynn made her straight to take down the whole pot as neither Cindy nor Melissa improved on the 2 of Clubs river and Lynn took the whole thing.

Melissa still had chips – about 4,100 of them – and those got in on the following hand. Diana Shamshoum was on the bb and made the call (for just over 1bb more).

Melissa: Jack of Spades 10 of Hearts
Diana: King of Clubs 7 of Clubs

Diana hit right away on the flop: 7 of Spades 2 of Spades 5 of Clubs. The turn was the Ace of Spades and the river King of Diamonds sealed the result.

Some people say that women are better at sharing than men.

While this old wive’s tale may not necessarily be accurate, for the moment it is holding true in the $150 + $15 Women’s Event. The chips are spread out very evenly across the five 10-handed tables, and after six levels there is only one player who’s stack rises above 2x the chip average. That player is Melanie Valiquette-Bouchard, currently holding 65,200 chips.

Let’s see how long she can last as the only player head and shoulders above the rest. Good luck to all our competitors!

Tchakarova takes a nice pot

There were 4 limps preflop when the dealer laid out the cards: Jack of Diamonds 3 of Spades 7 of Spades. Sonja Smirnov led out with a bet of 2K and Irina Tchakarova was the only player to call. The turn was dealt: King of Diamonds.

Once again Sonja led out, this time for 3.5K, and once again Irina made the call. The river completed some draws – 4 of Spades – and for a third street, Sonja led out with a bet of 7K. Irina made the call, but instead of showing down, Sonja chose just to muck her hand and Irina took down the pot without a showdown.

Late entry is open for approximately 25 more minutes, and it seems certain that there are players in the field that will try to double or re-enter before the end of the registration period, and maybe a few more still to arrive.

Cards are in the air for Event #18 in the World Cup of Cards, the event reserved exclusively for women! This is always a fun event that many players report looking forward to playing, and the atmosphere is always as convivial and fun as the poker play is serious.

There are 32 players seated so far in the event in level 1, but registration is available for another 2 hours – until 6:15pm – so we expect that number to grow considerably.

Good luck to everyone playing today and tonight!
