Two more players have been eliminated from Event #19 – Jason Blas in 8th place ($370) and Antonio Manata Dos Santos in 7th ($490). The remaining 6 players requested a short break in the action, and this was granted and players took about 5 minutes away from the tables. Play has now resumed in level 18.

Event #19 was proceeding at a relatively normal pace – and then the players moved down to two tables, and in just over one level of play, the field was reduced to 10 players – the final table! Play now continues in level 17.

After only five hours of play the $100 + $10 Freeze tournament has been reduced from a field of 112 down to just 20. These final two tables will battle it out to a winner today.

Still leading the pack is Steven Dubois-Daigle, holding 271,000 chips at the moment. Right behind him is Wayne Obrien as well as a new contender, Fady Abazah in 3rd. None of the other 17 players have a chip stack even close to these three, but in the game of poker things can change in a hurry!

The $100 + $10 Freeze event at the World Cup of Cards is slowly winding its way towards a champion. We have lost over half of the starting field, and now there are only 41 players remaining. Soon we will be down to only four tables, and the chip stacks will consolidate further.

At this point our leader is Steven Dubois-Daigle, boasting a chip stack of almost triple the average. But two of the top three from our last chip count are still in contention, with David Dusome and Wayne Obrien still quite high on the list.

Can Steven keep it up? Will David or Wayne pass him soon? Or will some unknown player make their way past all three to lead at the next break? We’ll find out soon enough!

James Nortcliffe limped in UTG on table 61 just now. This kind of play can sometimes be a warning to other players that a potential trap is being laid. Not this time.

As the action moved around the table there were plenty of others interested in jumping in. First was Roberto Anzini, who raised it to 4,700. Right next to him was Martin Rombach, who shoved for his remaining 15,000. Not to be outdone, Danielle Dagenais jammed over top for her last 35,000. The action returned to James, who wisely pulled the ripcord. Roberto folded as well, and now it was just Danielle and Martin left.

Martin had a pair of 10 of Clubs 10 of Clubs, Danielle an Ace of Hearts King of Spades. The odds were in his favor, and they stayed that way. The board came down 4 of Clubs 9 of Clubs 2 of Spades 3 of Diamonds 8 of Spades, and Martin doubled up. However, Danielle didn’t bust, and so she still has a chance to work her way back into contention. The action continues.

Players have just gone on break after six levels and two hours of play in the $100 + $10 Freeze event. Registration closes as soon as the first cards are dealt upon their return. There were 112 entries, of which 88 still remain.

Early on the chip average is only at 25,227 – only slightly above where it started at noon. Three players have distinguished themselves, separating slightly from the pack. The leader, Wayne Obrien, has risen up to triple the average at 74,700. Well done!

There are only 45 minutes left before registration closes in the today’s World Cup of Cards’ $100 + $10 Freeze event. 12 players have busted out early on, leaving a full 84 competing for a piece of the prize pool, which currently stands at $9,312.

So if the $1,500 + $150 WPTDeepStacks event (which lasts three days) is a little rich for your taste, this might be just the perfect one-day tournament for you on this Superbowl Sunday.

Come on down and grab your seat before registration closes!
