Ian Tang takes it down!

2019/02/05 - 4:32 by Playground Poker

After just a few minutes, a champion was found. It was Ian Tang.

His victory was hard-fought, but he earned his first place victory with solid play all day long, never finding himself against the ropes at any point during the tournament. Congratulations!

Ian’s was a well-deserved win, and he takes home $5,475 for his efforts.

The hand that won it for him was another situation in which two pocket pairs faced off.

This time Ian’s Queen of Diamonds Queen of Clubs was enough. Louis-Charles Levros did as well as he could with his 6 of Spades 6 of Clubs, but when the board was dealt 5 of Spades 7 of Hearts 9 of Diamonds King of Diamonds 3 of Diamonds there was nothing more to be said.

As for Louis-Charles, he had a great day of poker as well. His 2nd place finish earned him $3,810. We hope to see them both back battling it out some time soon.

It’s down to two!

2019/02/05 - 4:23 by Playground Poker

Today’s $200 + $20 Re-entry started with 215 entries, but will end with just two players. Facing off against one another are two warriors, and it is a battle of Montreal vs Toronto. Representing Montreal is Louis-Charles Levros. Representing Toronto is Ian Tang.

Who will win?

Foley finishes fourth, De Fina 3rd

2019/02/05 - 4:13 by Playground Poker

Arnold Foley ended up going down in 4th place. A fantastic tournament for him, his finish nets him a prize of $3,540 and the honor of knowing he almost made it to the final three. Well done!

Next to go was Anthony Peter De Fina, who takes a 3rd place prize of $5,535, the largest slice of the ICM chopped pie. Excellent job! Now only two remain…

Soucy says goodbye in 6th, Petten in 5th

2019/02/05 - 4:06 by Playground Poker

Christian Soucy had a great tournament, finishing in 6th place and earning an ICM chopped prize of $4,315.

His final hand involved his Jack of Hearts Queen of Spades versus his opponent Anthony Peter De Fina’s King of Diamonds 3 of Diamonds. When the cards were dealt, the 6 of Hearts 8 of Diamonds Ace of Diamonds Queen of Diamonds King of Clubs made a flush for Anthony, and ended Christian’s night.

Paul Petten went down in 5th soon after. His prize was $4,725.

His final hand saw his pocket 10s vs. the pocket Jacks of Ian Tang.

The board played out 4 of Hearts 6 of Diamonds Queen of Spades 3 of Spades King of Diamonds , and the Jacks held. Congratulations to both players!

Foley takes down big pot from Geci

2019/02/05 - 3:53 by Playground Poker

Arnold Foley had his Ace of Spades 10 of Spades facing off against Endrit Geci’s Queen of Diamonds Queen of Spades. It looked like it was going Endrit’s way right until the last card came down. The board showed 6 of Spades 8 of Hearts 10 of Clubs 3 of Spades … and that was when Arnold made his trips when the 10 of Hearts dropped on the river.

With the win, Arnold took 95% of Endrit’s chips, and it didn’t take long for that send him packing. Endrit finishes the night with a 7th place finish and $3,555. Well done!

Final 7 players agree to a chop

2019/02/05 - 3:44 by Playground Poker

Once they had eliminated the first three players from the final table, the remaining competitors decided to ask for an ICM chop. Once the tournament director came back with the numbers, everyone was happy with the results. So instead of risking a 7th place finish (worth $1,610), they all guaranteed themselves a much larger slice of the pie.

The players guarantee themselves the numbers below, but will play will for $830 and the trophy.

Play continues!

Buehler out in 8th

2019/02/05 - 3:31 by Playground Poker

Darren Buehler finished 8th in the $200 + $20 Re-entry, collecting a prize of $1,210.

The hand that put him out to pasture was an Ace of Hearts 3 of Clubs.

In his final kick at the can he faced off against Paul Petten, whose Ace of Spades 7 of Diamonds was just too hot to handle on a 10 of Hearts 5 of Diamonds Queen of Clubs 5 of Spades King of Spades board. Well done!

Down to 8

2019/02/05 - 3:24 by Playground Poker

Jamie Baker was the first eliminated from the final table. His 10th place finish earned him $680.

He went out in a three-way all in holding pocket Jacks. The other two in the hand, Ivan Driard with Ace of Clubs 9 of Clubs and Ian Tang with Ace of Hearts 6 of Clubs, ended up splitting the pot, with the lion’s share going to Ian on a Ace of Spades 9 of Spades 10 of Diamonds 8 of Clubs 4 of Hearts board.

Next to leave the final table was Ivan Driard. He bags $960 for his efforts. He had only about 20,000 chips in front of him after losing a couple of pots, and considering the fact that the average chip stack is near 700,000 his time was limited. Went he eventually was busted out it was no surprise. There is only so much you can do when extremely short stacked. Congratulations to him as well.
